About

In 1929, a severe drought spread across central Australia.

Many Hermannsburg people became sick. Superintendant Albrecht walked about at night with his lamp to help them, but many people died. What could they do?

With city people giving their support, community members did the work.

The pipeline project was completed, and water came to the township on the 1st of October, 1935.

It was a lifechanging event that is celebrated to this very day.
