Warumungu Plants and Animals: Aboriginal Biocultural Knowledge from Tennant Creek area, Central Australia

The results of a study of Warumungu plant and animal knowledge undertaken in Tennant Creek area of Central Australia by traditional knowledge custodians, linguists and biologists are presented. Warumungu names and uses of plants and animals, scientific names and common English names for 202 plants and 213 animals are included. Introductory chapters include Warumungu seasons, terms for implements and tools, and plant and animal types. Warumungu biological knowledge is categorised in later chapters. Indices of animal common names, plant common names and Warumungu plant and animal names are provided; 106 plants and 126 animals are illustrated.
