About

Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley by Aaron Blabey Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley were the best of friends. Pearl Barley was a baker. He loved to bake cakes and pies, biscuits and buns. And Charlie Parsley was a florist. He loved to grow flowers of all shapes and sizes. Now, Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley lived right next door to each other. They were the best of friends and they did everything together. They liked the same things and they liked to do them in exactly the same way. They were the best of friends. But, one day, Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley had a big argument. It was a silly argument really – just a trifling matter. But both men were stubborn and neither would back down. They stopped talking to each other and their friendship was over. For days, Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley went about their business in silence. And, slowly, they began to realize that life just wasn’t the same without their friend. They missed each other terribly. Finally, Pearl Barley decided to make amends. He baked a big batch of chocolate chip cookies and took them next door to Charlie Parsley’s shop. He knocked on the door and when Charlie Parsley opened it, he said, “I’m sorry, Charlie. I miss you. Let’s be friends again.” Charlie Parsley smiled and accepted the cookies. “I miss you too, Pearl,” he said. “I’m sorry for our silly argument. Let’s never fight again.” And from that day on, Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley were the best of friends once more. They baked cakes and grew flowers together, just like they used to. And they were happy.
