Jason Gibson is an anthropologist and historian with years of experience in cultural heritage, repatriation and museums. He was awarded the Monash University Historical Studies PhD Prize (2017) and the Archaeological and Anthropological Society of Victoria Alpha Prize (2017) and is the author of 'Ceremony Men: Making Ethnography and the Return of the Strehlow Collection' (State University of New York Press, 2020) which won the Council for Museum Anthropology Book Award (2021) and was shortlisted for the Prime Minister's Literary Award 2021. He is the lead Chief Investigator on the 'Collecting at the Crossroads: Anthropology, Art and Cultural Change (1939-1986)' ARC Linkage Project, the 'Anmatyerr Shields, songs and ceremonies project' and the 'After the Return: Re-engagements with Aboriginal Cultural Collections'.
