Author
Charlie Flannigan was a young Aboriginal stockman and a renowned horseman from Queensland who worked at various cattle stations in the Northern Territory. Events at Auvergne Station in 1892 resulted in his incarceration at Fannie Bay Gaol and his execution the following year.
During his ten months’ imprisonment, Charlie was kept in chains in solitary confinement. He was also given pencil and paper with which he produced a startling collection of images of people and places he had known.
