Lest they Be Lost – A Lifetime of Little Ponderings – by Wendy Nangala Baarda
Call it nepotism, call it a conflict of interest, call it favoritism, call it anything you like.
When Bronwyn at Red Kangaroo Books invited me to write a book review (any book), without hesitation I chose my wife’s book.
‘Lest they Be Lost – A Lifetime of Little Ponderings’ is a refreshing easy to read look at life through Wendy’s eyes.
I was aware of Wendy’s writing and shouldn’t have been surprised that when I suggested she should get it published, she unearthed a treasure trove of accumulated notes and ponderings.
Linda Wells is an old time (albeit currently distant) friend of ours.
Linda is an award-winning author. The three Central Australian themed books of hers I’ve read are ‘Kultitja,’ ‘Living in Tin’ and ‘Desert Tracks’ (the latter co-written with her daughter Marly).
After reading Wendy’s book, Linda’s comment was:
“Deceptively simple, surprisingly profound”
Linda nailed it.
When you’ve finished Wendy’s book, I suggest you check out Linda’s books.
The ponderings are in alphabetical order. As you turn the pages of ‘Lest They Be Lost,’ you jump from one place and time to another, to be pleasantly ambushed by the unexpected.
The ponderings are beautiful little fragments of thought.
It is interesting that all readers (friends and others) who have commented on the book so far, have each nominated a different pondering as their favorite. Wendy’s book has something for everybody. Read it!
